Since 2014,  Multiple Choice Questions for Compulsory papers have been introduced in the WBCS Main Examination. The complete syllabus of the Compulsory papers includes Geography, Indian Constitution, Indian Economy, Science Technology, Environment, Current Affairs, Arithmetic and General Intelligence (200X4 =800 marks). The organization of the marking scheme for the Main Exam is:

NASA announces discovery of seven planets

On 22nd of February 2017, NASA announced the historic discovery of record seven Earth-sized planets orbiting around a single star. All of these planets are located within the habitable zone of the star, which means they are at the right distance from the star to contain liquid water, and therefore potentially can host life. Compared to the huge astronomical scale, these planetary system is at stone throwing distance of 39 light years away from us. For a perspective, the closest star to our solar system is about 4 light years away.
